Juliane Dmyterko

I am a PhD Candidate in the School and Applied Child Psychology program. I hope to continue my work in the autism community supporting autistic individuals and their families. I am passionate about the neurodiversity-affirming practice and want to teach others how to be more neurodiversity-affirming in their work with clients. I am originally from Northern Alberta. I obtained my BA in Psychology from UBC and my Masters in School Psychology from UBC. I started my career as an educational assistant (EA) support students with disabilities in classrooms. After working as an EA for many years, I went to university and fell in love with psychology in my first year of study. I pursued my love of education and psychology and ended up as a school psychologist. I love working with children and youth and feeling like the work I do is making a difference in their lives. In my spare time, I love to play board games with my son, garden, and travel. A reminder I have to other grad students is to always make time for self-care.
