BU’s Silber on Loury’s move to Brown and more
Campus Insider wrote a few weeks ago that the prominent economist and scholar of race Glenn Loury left Boston University for Brown largely because he found BU’s former president, John Silber, unsupportive after Loury’s views became less conservative. We were remiss in not seeking comment from Silber, but when we spoke to him recently, he had plenty to say, opening a fascinating window onto the kind of highly secretive negotiations that take place between universities and star professors who could easily defect to other schools.
