Michigan: WMU faculty union files complaint

Kalamazoo Gazette: Faculty union files complaint

The faculty union at Western Michigan University has filed a complaint claiming the university administration has tried to undermine it.

The union alleges, among other allegations filed with the state in late February, that WMU “unilaterally” created a new type of faculty appointment and thereby “breached and repudiated” its contract with faculty.

WMU’s American Association of University Professors chapter, which represents 868 professors and instructors, also suggests the university has attempted to negotiate with members regarding the new faculty designation.
