The Detroit News: Pay freeze troubles teachers
Several Detroit teachers who heard details of the tentative agreement Tuesday said although the terms weren’t everything they hoped, they were enough to get them back into the classroom.
Union officials will recommend to about 9,500 teachers and school staff today at Cobo Center that they approve the tentative deal that provides minimal wage increases and concessions in health care and fringe benefits. Seniority pay increases, which were removed last year, are also to be reinstated.
