The Chronicle: Bonus Pay Based on Student Evaluations Evokes Skepticism at Texas A&M

Some faculty members at Texas A&M University will be $10,000 richer next month, and they’ll have their students to thank.

The Texas university system is awarding bonuses ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 to faculty members who received the highest grades on end-of-semester student evaluations. The competition is being held at the flagship campus in College Station, as well as campuses in Kingsville and Prairie View, and will be extended to all of the system’s nine campuses this spring.
