Reminder: Deadline for ePortfolio Set-up & First Assignment

The eportfolio is an important part of Opening Week and your entire MBA journey.

By Sunday August 25, in preparation for Monday, Aug. 26th:

  • All students are expected to have set-up their eportfolios based on the instructions provided on Connect
  • All students are expected to have written their first artefact

On Monday afternoon, the 26th, we will be discussing professional identity and eportfolios and you will be asked to share and discuss your artefact.

As a reminder, the topic of the first assignment is: Your Story: Describe your journey before your Sauder MBA, what led you here and what do you expect out of it.

Alternatively, if you have not yet done your post, you could also focus on My Achievement: Write about a major professional achievement.

  • What was the challenge?
  • What did you do?
  • What was the outcome?

Per the original instructions, your post should be up to 500 words (350–500 is a good range).

Additionally, video and images can help bring a artefact to life.

If you have any questions, please contact your Career Coach.

Please review this document over the next week as there are some pre-readings to do (Lieber Case), paperwork to fill out and at least one resource you will need to purchase from the UBC Bookstore.

Laptops: Our presenters have asked that you bring your own laptop on a number of the days – if you won’t have a laptop as of the week of the 26th please let Cherry know ASAP so that we can source one for you for the relevant workshops: cherry.wang@sauder.ubc.ca. Please note that while not required, a laptop is highly recommended while in the UBC MBA program – our office can provide a limited number of laptops for Opening Week, but these are not available for student use after that.

Ropes Course: Please fill out the attached PAL waiverPAL medical forms to bring with you on Tuesday morning.

The facilitators for the Ropes Course can modify the activities so that there is a role for everybody, regardless of physical or emotional ability. If you have concerns about participating in the Ropes Course, please contact Cherry to discuss: cherry.wang@sauder.ubc.ca.

Catering: Lunch will be catered for all of the days. Please bring a water bottle with you to keep yourself hydrated. If you have not completed the FT MBA Roster, I highly recommend you do so now, as this will help us cater to any of your dietary needs. This is particularly important if you have any food allergies. To complete the FT MBA roster, please click here.
