Hello Taran,

Thank you for the memo regarding your LinkedIn profile. The page was pleasurable to read, well-organized and very professional. Below are a few ways it could be improved further.

First Impressions

First impressions were very positive, and it is evident that care was taken to put the profile together. The thorough “About” section and volunteer experience paints a good picture of your personality. The large amount of experience and education exhibited is also impressive. However, there is a difference between what is publicly displayed and displayed to your connections:

  • The profile picture is not visible to recruiters browsing your profile until they connect with you on LinkedIn

Profile Photo

The profile photo has a white background and appears very professional. However:

  • Slightly smiling on the photo may convey more openness and friendliness to potential employers

Title Box

The title box provides a good short summary of both your professional experience and ongoing education

  • In the event of a job search, the desired position may be added here

About Section

The about section provides a good overview of your past and present career, as well as your interests and goals. Highlighting the community involvement and volunteer experience in this section balances out the career history. However, the focus of the three paragraphs is not very apparent.

  • Making the paragraphs each about a single topic will help focus the reader’s attention to the message
    • Deciding which aspects should be highlighted and grouping them into logical sections will improve readability
      • For example, the first paragraph may be about your career history, the second about your views towards working, and the last may be a statement about your willingness to connect
  • Making this section shorter will highlight the most important information

Experience

The experience section is succinct, includes the important employer information, and a good summary of the duties performed at each role. Perhaps this tip can be considered to improve readability:

  • A bullet point character (•) in front of each point will make the line separation clearer

Education and Certificates

The education section is very extensive and exhibits many certifications. Please consider the following:

  • The education section is not expanded by default, and does not show your earliest certificates unless it is expanded
  • Grouping all the diplomas and certificates from the same educational institution can make sure the page is not long
    • Viewers of the page will not need to scroll far to obtain all the information about your certificates
    • Instead of writing 4 separate entries for “George Brown College”, a single entry with 4 sub-headings will convey the same amount of information in a smaller space

Volunteer Experience

The volunteer experience complements the professional and educational experiences well.

  • If there is more recent volunteer experience, it would make the community involvement more prominent and quantifiable
    • The current experience listed is a few years old

Skills

  • Expanding the skills section to include more key words will help the profile be found when employers search for candidates
    • Adding variants of the same term can make it easier to find, for example “Restorative,” “Restoration,” and “Restoring”

Connections

Connecting with more Dental Professionals will make it easier to network, find relevant news, and lead to new career paths. More specifically;

  • Reaching out to former colleagues can help build the network
  • Subscribing to news related to the Dental profession and joining relevant groups can help with discovering new connections
  • Asking former colleagues to leave references on the page can improve credibility and support the listed skills and experience

Grammar and Style

The Experience and Education sections are well written and concise. There are a few sentences that do not flow very well or contain grammatical errors in the About section:

  • In the sentence, “I appreciate challenges due to its nature of rendering experience.” the message can be made clearer
  • Separating different topics into separate sentences can improve the flow and maintain the reader’s focus
    • The sentence, “My experience […] has awarded me the confidence to work independently and I do not let any circumstances affect my performance” can be divided into two parts because the messages are not directly related

Conclusion

This page is very impressive, containing key information for employers and remaining professional throughout. In summary, here are the suggested changes that could help improve it:

  • Adjusting the profile picture to make it public, and slightly smiling in it
  • Shortening the About section and focusing it on key information
  • Adding bullet points to separate points in the Experience descriptions
  • Grouping all the certificates under the same institutions
  • Adding updated volunteer experience, if any
  • Adding more skills
    • Adding slight variations of each skill for increased searchability
  • Making more connections
  • Adjusting the grammar and style of the About section as outlined above

It was a pleasure looking over your LinkedIn profile and I enjoyed reviewing it. I hope you can benefit from these suggestions, and please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Yury
