First Impressions and Completion of Profile:

This engaging LinkedIn profile strongly portrays leadership and facilitation skills. At first glance, all aspects of the LinkedIn profile are complete and relevant to her clear interest in anthropology, social change, and culture. The mountain cover photo creates an open atmosphere to the profile,  and the profile picture conveys a professional, yet artistic, tone due to the black and white filter. The headline of “Founding Member and Program Coordinator at Changemaker Residency|Facilitator|Alternative Education Program Designer” is very impressive, and immediately indicates your current position in a unique way. This profile is very distinctive, good job on personalizing every aspect!

Summary:

The LinkedIn summary adequately conveys professionalism and a multitude of experiences in the field of experiential education. The use of technical jargon conveys expertise in the field and highlights the educational methods that appeal most to your style of teaching. The overall outline of the summary is quite attractive. Particularly, starting with an introduction that hooks the reader, then following with your interests, then programs and research is an excellent structure. Ending with a list of relevant projects and a website engages the reader to learn more about you. However, a suggestion may be to increase coherency in the summary. While the experience is quite impressive, it is easy for the reader to get lost in the wordiness (for example: “embodiment practices fine-tuning the capacities of attention and listening to help individuals engage with challenging global events like climate change or war” as a parenthetical definition is slightly difficult for the audience to comprehend). Increasing coherency would include more efficient word choices and more effective sentence structure. A few specific technical errors are included below:

  • Missing word in second sentence of first paragraph (“adults [to] explore”]
  • Missing word in second paragraph (“individuals [to] develop…”)
  • The second paragraph may be clearer if broken up into two sentences
  • As a non-technical reader, the third paragraph is slightly hard to understand. From the initial reading, it’s difficult to know if Theory U and Global Social Witnessing are organizations or methodologies. To make this clearer consider changing “working with” to “implementing” in the first sentence.

Overall, this is a very strong summary. The tone is friendly yet professional and shows your character while highlighting your skills.

Experience/Volunteer Experience/Education:

These sections of the profile highlight an impressive array of experiences. The chronological order makes the experience readable, and all of it is relevant to the field of expertise. Each experience is accompanied by a description (of both the organization and the responsibilities), and the layout of each description are consistent from point to point. The descriptions offer detailed insight into the role at each institution, clearly indicate the skills learned, and media is included when appropriate. Great job!

Skills/Accomplishments:

The Skills and Accomplishments section are both complete and organized in an appropriate manner. They are relevant to the experiences and overall tone of the profile. Additionally, all accomplishments include concise yet detailed descriptions.

Style, Tone, Technical Errors:

The tone of the profile is very professional, consistent throughout, and conveys the author’s personality. There seems to be a clear goal and audience in mind, and technical jargon is used when appropriate. The only technical errors are listed under the Summary section of this review.

Final Comments

This LinkedIn Profile strongly conveys professionalism and skill in the field of experiential education and communication. Every element of the profile is unique to your experiences, creating a profile that stands out from the rest. The only critique would be to increase coherency of the Summary (as indicated under the Summary section). This will really enhance your profile as it will allow the audience to obtain a clearer view of your goals and experiences. Otherwise, all other areas are consistent and show an apt amount of detail. Excellent job! I hope this review is helpful to you, if you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me.
