An exciting update and great news from our office!  The Indigenous Undergraduate Research Mentorship Program (IURMP) is expanding this year!  This amazing program has continued to grow over the years and we are happy to announce that this coming school year we will be doubling the amount of students accepted into the program!  There has always been great interest from Indigenous students and no shortage of applications.  This year we will be hiring a second graduate student coordinator to ensure smooth transition for this exciting update.

We also wanted to encourage ES units, if you haven’t already, to take a look at the UBC Indigenous Strategic Plan (ISP) / ISP Toolkit to learn and brainstorm about what your role/office can do to support and implement the calls to action.  Building our own internal capacity of these histories, perspectives and current realities will help us all better serve Indigenous students, recruit, retain and foster good relationships with Indigenous colleagues, students and communities.  Another amazing resource that can help with terminology used in such documents is the UBC Indigenous Peoples Language Guide

You’ll be hearing more from us about the ISP Toolkit in the coming months, so stay tuned!
