Urban campus garden. Developed a team of twenty faculty, staff and students to champion the Arts Eco Action volunteer team. Pictures below illustrate our work on the Gerrard Street urban garden. Together we grew hops (brewed beer), created an ecological garden design for bees and butterflies. We participated in 100In1Day Toronto and engaged with the community, promoting urban pollination gardens.

Nature in the City: Tree planting to create awareness about Emerald Ash Borer. With support of over 50 faculty, staff and students, in conjunction with our partner LEAF, we planted two new native trees and bushes. The goal was to create awareness about the impacts of the emerald ash borer in our urban forest. Above and beyond tree planting, we launched a web tool called Nature in the City (now called CityTrees), to promote awareness about urban tree species.

Cycle to the Arts: Cycling campaign and video launch. Ryerson’s first campaign to promote cycling, walking and public transit. The video can be watched here!
