Registration Instructions for P3 – P5 – Registration Opens Fri Nov 15th, 10am

Registration for the P3 – P5 modules opens Friday November 15th at 10am and will stay open. You are able to add/drop modules right through the first week of classes for each period.

Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis so please keep this in mind when deciding when to register for your modules.

The Part-time MBA students are also interested in taking modules with your class in P3-P5, so we will open registration for them in the FT modules one week after it’s opened for you. I strongly recommend you make your registration choices during this week.

Please download the most up-to-date copy of the P1-P5 Schedule in Connect in the Schedules & Registration tab in myMBA Program, or from your Current Students website. You will also want to refer to the Track Requirements sheet for your track and the Pre-reqs List while making your registration decisions – these are also found on the Current Students website under the FT MBA Track Requirements tab.

Module outlines are available online – if the outline is not current but the instructor is the same as last year’s then the module will be similar. If there is no current outline you can contact the instructor directly if you need more details.

You need to register in the following (please note that some registration has already been done for you, as per the notes below):

Period 3 – total of 9.0 credits – you will declare your track after the 2nd week of this period, full details to follow closer to the date

  • BA 507 IPD: Global – 3 credits – already registered by Graduate Programs Office
  • BA 561 Global Issues & Macroeconomics – 1.5 credits – self-register
  • 2 Track Required modules for your track – 3.0 credits – self-register
  • 1 additional module – 1.5 credits – can be a Track Elective or an MBA Elective – self-register

Period 4 – total of 6.0 credits

  • 2 Track Required modules for your track – 3.0 credits – self-register
  • 2 additional modules – 3.0 credits – self-register
  • Note that overloading with 1 additional module is permitted in P4 provided you meet the requirements (cumulative GPA from P2 onwards of 80% or higher – full policy attached and can be found in the Academic Policies section of Connect).

Period 5 – total of 3.0 credits

  • BA 560 Ethics & Sustainability – 1.5 credits – already registered by Graduate Programs Office
  • BA 563 Decision Making for Managers – 1.5 credits – already registered by Graduate Programs Office

Things to keep in mind when registering:

  • If you are unsure of which track you want to pursue, please speak to your Career Coach.
  • Use the Track Requirement sheet for your track to ensure that you are meeting your track requirements – look at what will be offered in subsequent periods in order to ensure you will get sufficient Track Electives
  • Look at modules you will want to take later and check the Pre-Reqs List to see if they have any pre-reqs (particularly important for FIN modules)
  • You will have time to change your mind – registration is ongoing and you can change your choices right up until the 1st week of each period
  • Please self-register for your P3-P4 modules by logging into the SSC with your CWL. There are video tutorials at the bottom left side of the SSC website to guide you on how to register for modules. SSC Registration video: https://secure.students.ubc.ca/help/AddCourses_demo_video.swf

Waitlists – If the section you want is full, please email askmba@sauder.ubc.ca to get on the waitlist. Students do change their minds as to which module or section they prefer to take, and as seats open up in the full sections we will fill them from the waitlist.

If you have any questions about registration please contact askmba@sauder.ubc.ca

Important note about Monday morning class

Hi Class,

We have condensed our programming into a one hour slot, starting at 9-10 am for the blue cohort and 10-11am for the green cohort. Make sure you bring the assignment from last week, (a posting or contact you wish to make) as you will have some time to continue drafting your letter/approach in class time, combined with an overall plan for your internship/job search strategy.

Thank you.
