2 Problem Analysis

CEAB GRADUATE ATTRIBUTE:  PROBLEM ANALYSIS

Students graduating with an engineering degree from the University of British Columbia possess an ability to use appropriate knowledge and skills to identify, formulate, analyze, and solve complex engineering problems in order to reach substantiated conclusions.

CIVIL ENGINEERING PROGRAM INDICATORS (required by CEAB):

Those graduating with a civil engineering degree will be able to:

  • 2.1:  Characterize and/or Model Problems – identify and especially utilize appropriate analysis techniques to determine the characteristics and model the behaviours of a range of civil engineering problems;
  • 2.2:  Formulate and Analyze Problems – formulate civil engineering problems and engage in problem analysis activities related to several areas of civil engineering;
  • 2.3:  Evaluate Solutions – evaluate the validity of solutions for errors, uncertainty, and limitations;
