CEAB GRADUATE ATTRIBUTE:  PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOUR

Students graduating with an engineering degree from the University of British Columbia possess an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the professional engineer in society, especially the primary role of protection of the public and the public interest.

CIVIL ENGINEERING PROGRAM INDICATORS (required by CEAB):

Those graduating with a civil engineering degree will be able to:

  • 8.1:  Role of Civil Engineers – meaningfully interpret “… hold paramount the safety, health and welfare of the public, [and] the protection of the environment …”), and is able to describe the role of the civil engineer within society;
  • 8.2:  Behave Professionally – demonstrate professional etiquette as described by APEGBC;
  • 8.3:  Public Trust – integrate standards, codes of practice, and legal and regulatory factors, including contract law and other issues related to the public trust, into decision-making processes (as appropriate).
