As requested in Lesson 2:2, the following list contains ten best practices for professional networking on LinkedIn:

  1. Complete your profile – Make sure to fill in the headline section with information that gives insight on your abilities to any future employer or network connection.
  2. Customize your public profile link – A customized link will make your profile more memorable.
  3. Connect with people and interact – Connect with people in your industry that could be potential co-workers or can provide insight concerning your career.
  4. Keep your profile active – Like, share or comment on people’s posts or make a post at least once a week to remain active.
  5. Join LinkedIn groups – Joining groups with common interests will allow you to make connections with people in your industry.
  6. Post engaging content – It will help your profile get more exposure and presents you as a critical thinker.
  7. Use a professional photo – A good LinkedIn profile picture makes for a good first impression.
  8. Use LinkedIn endorsements – Endorsements are an easy way to showcase your skills.
  9. Request LinkedIn recommendations – Recommendations written by previous employers give your profile credibility.
  10. Use media – Media such as video links will make your profile more attractive and showcases your creativity.
