Hi from Vancouver Island

Hi Everybody,

My name is David Berljawsky and this is my final semester in the MET program. It’s been a great experience. I’ve met and worked with some fantastic individuals over the past few years and am looking forward to collaborating with all of you. I’m taking 3 classes this semester, including ETEC 511 and ETEC 590. I am currently living in Courtenay, BC but am moving to Ottawa at the end of the month which is a pretty exciting prospect for me.

I am currently in the process of leaving the teaching profession for something different. Ideally I would like to work in the non-profit field which will hopefully allow me to use my education and technology backgrounds. One of the reasons that I am taking this course is because I believe that learning about ventures in learning technologies will only assist me in pursuing my employment goals. I have previously help contracts as an IT, Music, Alternative Education, Elementary and French public school teacher, so I guess you can say that I have a diverse teaching background. I am an open source technology advocate and try to promote the use of open source whenever possible.

I have enclosed a few nature pictures in my introduction. I am an avid photographer and have a great love for the outdoors. Fortunately this is a combination that usually works out well.

I can’t wait to work with all of you in this course, and I wish you all a great start to the semester.

David.
