Hello,

My name is Bryan and I am in my fifth year of teaching at the Surrey School District (SD36) in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. I have a B.A. in History from the University of the Fraser Valley and a B.Ed. with a minor in Educational Technology from Simon Fraser University. I am currently teaching grades 8 -12 and my subject areas of instruction are Career Facilitator, Work Experience, Geography 12, and Junior Info Tech. In the past I have taught Social Studies, Career Planning, Junior Information Technology, Leadership, Learning Support, and Aboriginal Education.

I have a wonderful partner in life named Jennifer, a very stubborn but awesome wiener dog named Mogley, and fluffy cat named Melu.

I am extremely found of using technology in the classroom because in my experience it has proven to be very engaging for all types of learners. The feedback I receive from the majority of my students seems to be tremendously positive. Students often describe using technology in the classroom as “a fun way to learn”. In today’s digital age where my entire grade 8 class was born after the advent of the internet and widespread use of computer, using technology appears to be almost second nature to them.

I feel that in the year 2012, we as educators should be using technology in efficient and effective ways in order to prepare our students to be successful in their future careers in the 21st century economy. However to accomplish this, I believe I need a greater understanding of the most appropriate and effective ways of to implement technology into my instruction.
Bryan
