I tried my hand at Layar, as part of this week’s activities. I found that it had a very streamlined interface, and the idea of ‘tagging’ or creating these layers was intriguing. I actually imported one of my handouts for Internships, thinking I would create layers on it, so that the students immediately start to pursue links and websites that I refer to (for their job searches, for example). My challenge was to fit enough on the page. No matter how small I made the links, it would likely not fit over it. So, I need to think about that a little. I do think this would be  a REVOLUTIONARY way to make students ‘think’ more about their assignments. You could provide examples (videos), you could provide websites you want them to visit, and much more. You could do this with the course outline and then have links to the textbook on Amazon or the bookstore. Brilliant! I think it is a great idea and I will further investigate how I can engage my students with this.
