Authentic learning activities

Learning how to embed authentic learning experiences through provocation and contextualization is of value to teachers (and students!).

This powerful learning experience was shared by Leyton Schnellert with SD36 along with the accompanying rubric to support assessment.

Provocations as ‘bins’ designed for early learners can be produced to support personalized learning and student choice. These kinds of bins aren’t relegated solely to primary classes. Teachers use this strategy through the middle years as ‘story prompt’ boxes or ‘inquiry prompts’.

Th blog has several excellent examples of provocations including this one “What plant best represents you?” in which students are challenged to design and create (in 2 or 3D) a model of their plant.
