City Internships | New Year Update

Standard

Following on from our 2020 Program Launch notification, I am writing with an update for our 2020 Internship Programs for your students.

Our Summer programs continue to fill very quickly, and I would encourage any of your interested students to apply now to avoid disappointment. Toronto, Melbourne, Medellin, Santiago, Tokyo and Shanghai will close on February 28th.

There is still good availability for our Programs across our other locations of London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Washington D.C., Miami, Dublin, Barcelona and Madrid. All Programs of course include a guaranteed internship in a student’s industry of choice, as is usual. Programs are still open to students/graduates of all academic disciplines and ages.

In my previous email, I mentioned that our Student Aid scheme is again available this year, however I have received a few requests for clarification on what it is and how it works.

Through generous CI Alumni, our Student Aid offering grants up to $3,263 towards a City Internships Program of choice. All students and recent graduates are eligible for some aid, irrespective of where they study, and the average award last year was just under $2,000. Your students may make a student aid application here at no cost.

We will endeavor to provide as much support as possible to your students, but sadly it is not an unlimited resource! As such, I would again encourage your students who aim to rely on our Student Aid offering to submit an application to a Program sooner rather than later.

Our 2020 Prospectus has now been completed and is available here. It provides an excellent overview of this year’s Programs, but if you have any further questions, please do let me know.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to read and share this email.

Upcoming Sustainability Engagement opportunities

Standard

Check out the following engagement opportunities that might be of interest to you or your network.

Sustainable Development Goals Week

SDG Week is the first of its kind at the UBC-Vancouver campus, focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals from diverse perspectives. From science and technology to public health, business, and politics, we will discuss challenges and solutions to turn talk into action. We will also unpack shortfalls of the SDGs, including missing Indigenous perspectives that are crucial in creating a unified and equitable vision for global development.

Sustainability Career Connections

A conference involving non-governmental organizations, organizations, banks, professors, alumni and more to discuss how their careers are related to the SDGs. It’s a great conference to expose these opportunities to students, so they can get involved in with these organizations, whether it be internships or volunteer opportunities.
