The project is a Maker Lab for LaSalle College. Previously, the Art Institute of Vancouver, LaSalle College has programs including Film and Television, Video Game Programming, Digital Film and Video, Game Art and Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Fashion and Culinary Arts. The Maker Lab building is intended to provide general making facilities for all the disciplines as well as specific classroom space, a culinary lab space and general support spaces.
The site of project is the parking area of the college which can be regarded as a negative space. There is a huge white wall in the arena to separate the grounds, but it is also a very frustrating element of the venue. In my opinion, the white wall can be transfer into a green wall containing the space of making lab which can be an active space for the college.
