Retreat Rental

The Woodhaven Eco Culture Centre is managed by The University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies.  It is located in the Mission area of Kelowna, British Columbia.  The Centre has three self-contained apartments, as well as several outbuildings for studio work or workshops.

VISITING ARTIST AND SCHOLAR STUDIO:  The Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies welcomes applications to stay in the Visiting Artist/ Scholar Studio apartment.  It is a small bachelor suite, ideal for academics or artists looking for a quiet retreat to write and or work on projects for a few days or a week. The apartment has a private bathroom and private entrance.  It contains a double bed and a well-stocked galley kitchen with fridge and microwave.  The kitchen comes with basic utensils and appliances such as kettle, teapot, one-cup bodum coffee maker, toaster, rice-maker, small grill, electric wok, and basic dishes and cutlery.  The living space contains a kitchen table overlooking the garden and woods through large windows, two easy chairs and a footstool, reading lamps, and side tables.   The suite has a large private deck.   There is also wireless Internet access and parking. All linens are provided.  The suite has teas, coffees, and some basic food stuffs; visitors bring their own perishable items.

In the summer months, the other two full-size apartments are available for short-term rentals for individual scholars and artists or the apartments can be rented for a group for collaborations or small workshop events. The Main House consists of two  apartments ( a 1-bedroom unit and  a 2-bedroom unit), fully-furnished, with laundry facilities and full kitchens.

Main House Ground Floor (May- August only; meals and transportation are not included; residents are responsible for their own cleaning and laundry while in residence.)  Two bedrooms or one bedroom and an office, fully furnished, private entrance, large kitchen with stove/ oven/ microwave/ fridge, washer and dryer, a bathroom, living room, wireless Internet, parking, patio, linens, dishes.

Main House Upper Floor  (May- August only; meals and transportation are not included; residents are responsible for their own cleaning and laundry while in residence) One bedroom with queen size bed, fully furnished, private entrance, large kitchen with stove/ oven/ microwave/ fridge, washer and dryer, a bathroom, living room, wireless Internet, parking, deck, linens, dishes.

Day Use : Outdoor (April – October only) Includes outbuilding studio (with electricity, tables and folding chair seating for between 15 – 20, projectors and screens can be provided), use of one apartment for kitchen and bathroom, use of other out-buildings, and the 8 acre site. From May – August, it is possible to book both the outdoor space and one or more of the apartments for day use, if the apartments are available.

Rental Costs

Studio Apartment Rental Costs: (meals and transportation are not included):
$40/ day (for one night stays only: an additional $5 cleaning fee.  E.g.- 1 night stay= $45; 2 night stay = $80)
$175/ week
$575/ month (rarely available for monthly rentals Sept.-April)

Main House Ground Floor

$75/ day (for one night stays only: an additional $12 cleaning fee.  E.g.- 1 night stay= $87; 2 night stay = $150)
$300/ week

Main House Upper Floor

$63/ day (for one night stays only: an additional $10 cleaning fee.  E.g.- 1 night stay= $73; 2 night stay = $126)
