Andreaea nivalis
Species in Andreaeopsida release spores when the mature and dry sporangium splits along 4-5 lines of dehiscence (there are no peristome teeth). The columella compresses and causin resembling a lantern. Spores fall out the openings. When wet, the sporangium will close again. This opening and closing of the sporangium causes spores to be dispersed over time, and not in one event.
