Universities in South Korea have their own festivals where they celebrate school pride. A lot of the times, they’ll also invite idols and celebrities to perform at the festivals as well! Yonsei’s festival is called Akaraka, and it’s the most famous festival among all the universities in Seoul!
Yonsei Global and Mentors Club – both are clubs designed to help foreigners integrate better into Yonsei’s school life, but they’re rival clubs that try to get get more students in each club. I participated in activities that were held by both groups so I thought it would be interesting to compare them a bit.
I’m supposed to be in Seoul to study but I haven’t even been talking about school much; I’ve been here for two months now so I thought it would be a good time to update on how I’m doing in school, and how it’s different from school back in Canada.
Cherry blossoms are a huge thing here in Korea, as they are in Japan. I’m really glad that I came during cherry blossom season so I could really experience how pink and fluffy the streets get!
You really learn to take more chances when you’re on exchange. Everyone stretches their limits in some way – whether it be big (like skydiving) or small (talking to someone new). But it’s not every day that you get to stretch your limit by trying live octopus!
Living in such close proximity with someone is really hard, especially when you’re used to being an only child and having your own space.
You might have known, but I definitely didn’t know until I got here…

This post is highly needed (by me) because unfortunately.. the instructions provided by SK Global just don’t cut it. Some of the blog posts aren’t very helpful either. And although I know how to get to dorm now, others don’t – just in case anyone (somehow) finds my blog, here’s a helpful guide.
(I am upset because I literally finished this blog post, came back, and realized that I hadn’t saved any of it. But that’s okay, because now I have a new perspective of things (even though I just finished two days ago)!)
Today was a more expensive day. But I felt like it was totally worth it for what I did throughout the day today!
