This post is a bit late (I went on this trip in May and it’s now the end of August…) but I finally got to go on my first solo trip with my boyfriend of five years!
more than a year later
It’s officially been over a year since I’ve returned from my four months in Seoul, and so much has changed. I’ve finished my degree at UBC, I have four part-time jobs, and I’m starting a new school in September. It really feels strange that 16 months ago I had just arrived in Seoul with my friends, not knowing what to expect. Now, so many of the things that I do remind me of my time in South Korea. (Like making Korean Army Stew and Spicy Rice Cakes at home for my boyfriend, eating Korean-style shaved ice, and only eating Korean food whenever I meet up with my UBC friends from exchange…)
seoul forest
I had known about the Seoul Forest 서울숲, but what I didn’t know was that there are deer inside that you can feed – so obviously I had to go!
han river
I think going to the Han River is on the list of must-dos for everyone’s list, and I’m really surprised that I didn’t go earlier.
taking a big paw step out
I think this was the most daring (?) thing that I’ve eaten here… more daring to me than the octopus, since I normally refuse to eat this at home but I was pretty open to eating octopus.
cookin’ nanta
If you’re going to watch any show in South Korea, definitely watch Cookin’ Nanta – it’s one of the most popular ones around.
UPDATED 06/16/16: cafes in seoul
I thought Vancouver was the land of expensive cafes. But little did I know about the 5 million coffee chains and cute cafes that they have lining every street I walk on! So I’ve made it a mission to try as many of them as I possibly can. I’ll keep updating this post as I go to more cafes!
body positivity
Korea is a really vain country and obviously, you’re going to become more vain while you’re here due to all the influence around you…
getting ready to go home
There’s around 9 days until I go home. 9 days.

UPDATE: noraebang + damotori
Seoul is very much a nightlife city, and you really haven’t been in Seoul until you’ve tried out their nightlife. I’m more of a quiet type of person, so I don’t really like to party and drink very hard. But I still had a lot of fun at both the noraebang (노래방) and a bar!
