We are pleased to announce that, in partnership with eHLbc, UBC Library has acquired two 3d interactive tools from Primal Pictures via OvidSP – AnatomyTV and Anatomy and Physiology Online.
AnatomyTV – This comprehensive collection includes regional anatomy, sports and therapy, surgery and specialty titles (eg Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, and Speech and Language Pathology). Realistic images can be manipulated by rotating or adding and removing layers. Views include, MRI, slides, movies, animations and clinical texts and in some cases information for patient education. A tool for teaching and learning images can be used in courses and self directed quizzes used for review.
Anatomy and Physiology Online – This tool includes some of the AnatomyTV content integrated with physiology and is presented in 19 modules with concise text, learning objectives and quizzes.
These are useful for teaching, learning, and in the clinical setting, for diagnosis and patient education.
75 concurrent seats are available and access to these tools are via 2 routes:
1. From UBC Library home page use the indexes and databases tab and search for “anatomy”; then click through
AnatomyTV http://resources.library.ubc.ca/1839
Anatomy and Physiology Online http://resources.library.ubc.ca/1840
2. From within any of the OvidSP databases (eg Medline, Embase, Cochrane reviews) click on “Primal Pictures” in the blue navigation bar and choose either of the tools [Note: Anatomy TV is listed as “Primal Pictures Premier Library Package -Plus”]

Great news! We have extended electronic coverage to Zoological Record by purchasing the backfile to 1864.
NOTE – access via the Proquest platform will be removed by August 31, 2012. If you have saved searches, please note you will need to transfer them to the new platform on Web of Knowledge. Access Zoological Record on Web of Knowledge here.

Open UBC is held in conjunction with International Open Access Week, which encourages the academic community to come together to share and learn about open scholarship initiatives locally and worldwide.
Open UBC showcases a week of diverse events highlighting areas of open scholarship that UBC’s researchers, faculty, students and staff participate in. These events include discussion forums, lectures, seminars, workshops, and symposia on topical and timely issues from every discipline. We invite everyone to participate either by organizing events, highlighting events already coinciding with the Week, or attending the events to be scheduled.
All of these events are FREE and open to the public, students, faculty, staff and schools.
Call for Participation
