​As we started the month of February, the FHIS  offers spaces to celebrate, learn and reflect on the African presence in the Hispanic history and culture, past and present.

Spanish for Community is delighted to announce that FHIS alumni, Julio Montero. Vancouver based artist, dance instructor and producer will visit our Spanish 301 students to talk showcase examples on African music and dance elements as key components of today’s Cuban popular dances. We will learn about its historical and ethnic roots, and its social implications on Cuban identity.
