School District 40 New Westminster is hiring a foodservice consultant to assist with re-engineering foodservice operations within the District.  It is part of a very exciting initiative to develop a district-wide plan to address food security and healthy eating.   This plan would make food programs available to all New Westminster schools so that no child is hungry and every child eats healthy.   

A tentative 3 year rollout is being recommended for New Westminster Schools.  Re-engineering foodservice operations requires specific knowledge and skills. The level of expertise required to move to the next steps goes beyond what the School District is able to do in-house.

Go Global Okanagan is trying to reach a larger pool of graduate students for a Global Seminar Program run out of our Okanagan campus with a focus around sustainability. The seminar will occur from Sept 20 – 29, 2018 and will have students go to Kluane Lake in the Yukon to explore, in short, how historical and contemporary interactions between humans and the environment have shaped the present landscape. 

Our hope is that you will be able to promote this opportunity to students through e-mail communication more effectively than we are able to. Students can reference our webpage for further information. If you would like any further information to assist in any promotions, please do not hesitate to ask. The deadline to apply is May 30, 2018 and we hope to have a mix of students from the Okanagan and Vancouver!

My previous boss from Purdue University and a friend of many of you, Dr. Connie Weaver, is coming to Vancouver and kindly agreed to give a seminar at UBC. She is an internationally-known in calcium metabolism, mineral bioavailability, botanicals and bone health.
