The instructor of APBI 490 101 – Grapevine and Berry Crop Biology is looking for a TA.  This is a Term 1 course, with 40 TA support hours.

Work Performed:

  • Using a detailed marking guide, mark two exams (midterm and final exam), one laboratory/field report, and one two-page report and submit a breakdown of the verified marks via spreadsheet to the Instructor.
  • Assist the instructor in the preparation and performance of the laboratory and field sessions.
  • Invigilate two exams (midterm and final) and two class quizzes.
  • Available to help students with course material for two review sessions prior to each exam.

Qualifications/Skills:

Education and Knowledge Requirements: Preference will be given to students who have obtained an undergraduate degree in Applied Biology, Biology, Botany, Biochemistry, or Genetics and have a thorough understanding of plant physiology, genetics, and molecular biology.

Experience: Preference will be given to students who have the ability to correspond effectively with the Instructor, to ask questions when uncertain about their marking responsibilities, and to reliably check their work for accuracy (marking exams, entering data into spreadsheet). Reliability of the TA is essential.

Skills: Preference will be given to students who are comfortable responding to students’ questions during review sessions and exams.

TA Position Available – LFS 252 002 – FILLED

Standard

The instructor for LFS 252 002 (2015 Winter Session Term 2) is looking for one more TA for 100 hours.

Here is the job description:

WORK PERFORMED

  • Use a detailed marking guide to mark the midterm or final exams (combination of objective and subjective marking of essay type questions and multiple choice questions) and term assignments, and submit a breakdown of the verified marks via spreadsheet to the Instructor.
  • Invigilate a midterm exam and a final exam.
  • Facilitate weekly lab sessions to facilitate student experiential learning of data analysis procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Knowledge Requirements:  Good understanding of data analysis procedures and fundamental statistic.

Skills: Ability to correspond effectively with the Instructor, to ask questions when uncertain about marking responsibilities. Good written communication skills and the ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.  Computer experience (word processing and spreadsheets and R statistical program) required.

FNH 474 002 – TA wanted! – FILLED

The instructor of FNH 474 002 is looking for individuals interested in TA’ing.

The current job description is as follows:

WORK PERFORMED

  • Use moderately detailed marking guides to mark class assignments, midterm and final examinations (~ 2 hr/student). Submit the verified marks to the instructor using an Excel spreadsheet.
  • Be available for occasional office hours before the midterm and final exams (~6 hours)
  • Meet with students after midterm exam to review exams, and refer unresolved queries about grading to the instructor (~2 hours).
  • Assist with invigilation of a midterm and a final exam (5 hours).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Education and knowledge requirements:  Preference will be given to graduate students in Human Nutrition who have obtained an undergraduate degree in nutrition or dietetics and have a thorough understanding of energy metabolism and nutrient requirements.  A background in exercise physiology would be an asset.

Skills:  Ability to correspond effectively with the instructor and to ask questions when uncertain about grading responsibilities.  Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail (marking exams, entering data into spreadsheets).  Ability to meet deadlines.

This course has been assigned 85 hours of TA support.
