Available Term 2 TA Position – FNH 477 001 – FILLED

Standard

The instructor of FNH 477 001 is looking for a TA for an assignment of up to 74 hours.

The job description is as follows:

WORK PERFORMED

  • As a PBL group tutor, facilitate students; learning in PBL groups by: encouraging and promoting student participation, asking probing questions, providing students with feedback, facilitating students; provision of peer feedback, and monitoring PBL group work (including Connect posts).  Tutors will also attend weekly tutor meetings in which cases will be discussed and tutors will provide feedback regarding groups; progression through cases to the course instructor;
  • As a Marker, mark students; assignment papers as well as  objective and subjective portions of the midterm and final exam.  All marking would be completed using rubrics prepared by the instructor.  TAs will be trained and supported in the use of the marking rubrics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Education and Knowledge Requirements: Preference will be given to graduate students in Human Nutrition who have completed Problem-Based Learning tutor training.  Ideal candidates will have a good understanding of nutrition in general, and nutrition and disease prevention in particular.

Experience: Preference will be given to applicants who have prior experience facilitating PBL groups.

Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including skills in providing and receiving constructive feedback.
