Use of personal email accounts

“At a time of increased awareness around data security, we would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the requirement to use UBC email systems for work purposes.

Under the “data residency requirements” of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), UBC is required to ensure that personal information in its custody or under its control is stored and accessed in Canada.

For this reason, email accounts hosted outside Canada (e.g. Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, iCloud) cannot be used for work purposes. This is due to the fact that many work emails contain personal information, such as information about students or personnel information about UBC employees.”   Cont’d

If you are new to Canvas, or find yourself spending a lot of time figuring out how to do things like access assignments and rubrics, upload grades, or submit feedback, we want to help! Next week we are offering a CANVAS workshop to answer all of your questions and help you work more efficiently. This workshop will be facilitated by the LFS Learning Centre.

Mark your calendars- the LFS TA Training Orientation is fast approaching!  If you will be TA’ing in LFS in any capacity in the 2017/2018 academic year.

Date: Wednesday, January 10th from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM in FNH 300.

At the orientation, you will become familiar with:

• Key resources to help you build your teaching skills
• People and policies relevant to your role as a TA
• The expectations of you as a TA and what you can expect
