Term 2 TA Position Available – FNH 473 – FILLED

Standard

Are you looking for a TA position in term 2 (January – April 2016)?
There is currently an opening for a TA on the team for FNH 473 (Nutrition Education in the Community). FNH 473 focuses on taking a population health approach to issues in nutrition and focuses on health promotion strategies, health behaviour theories, and the current Canadian context for community/public health nutrition (however no particular background in nutrition is required for you to be effective in your role as a TA in this course). The position would be for 83 hours in term 2 and would include an initial training session, weekly TA meetings, ~10 weeks of supporting small student working groups on Monday afternoons (so you would need to be available on Mondays between 2 PM and 4 PM), and some marking (with clear rubrics and lots of support provided). For more information about the course, please refer to the syllabus (available here: http://courses.landfood.ubc.ca/files/FNH_473.pdf). This is quite a nice TA opportunity — there is a lot of ongoing support and a variety of tasks spread throughout the term, including working directly with student groups. In your work with student groups, you will use a modified problem-based learning (PBL) approach to help facilitate and support the groups’ work and learning (training will be provided at the beginning of the term). If you would like to apply for this position, please contact the instructor, Dr. Candice Rideout, by email (candice.rideout@ubc.ca) as soon as possible. Thank you!
