Professor Ge Zhaoguang received his BA and MA from Peking University in 1982 and 1984. After briefly teaching at Yangzhou Normal College in Jiangsu, he started to teach at Tsinghua University in 1992. Since 2006, he has been Dean and Professor of National Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies at Fudan University in Shanghai. From 1997 onward, he has also been invited to teach in different universities in Asia, North America and Europe, including Kyoto University, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, and Princeton University, at the last of which he was selected as its first Princeton Global Scholar in 2009. As an exceptionally prolific author on different aspects of Chinese cultures, Professor Ge has published so far fifteen monographs, in addition to numerous journal articles and book chapters. His major works include Zen Buddhism and Chinese Culture (1986), Daoism and Chinese Culture (1987), A History of Chinese Zen Buddhist Thought (1995), A History of Chinese Thought (2 vols., 1998-2000), and the most recently, Here Was China: Reconstructing the Historical Narratives about “China” (2011).
