Based on my research I have identified ten practices that can increase the effectiveness of networking through LinkedIn.

Profile Photo

Headline

A headline helps convey your brand quickly, which is important since prospective viewers often decide whether to stay on page within the first few seconds (The Muse Editor).

Using the alumni tool you can find University of British Columbia alumni in jobs or careers you want to pursue (The Muse Editor). This will give you an ice breaker when reaching out to professionals.

Role Models

Looking at the pages of role models in your industry which can help give ideas on what makes a page stand out (The Muse Editor).

Stay Engaged

Post, share and comment to help increase your visibility but, be strategic (The Muse Editor). Make sure you are adding value and sending the right message to future employers.

Aim For 50

Asking for Recommendations:
