This week we are working on setting up a Linkedin page as it is a valuable tool to help form and maintain a professional network. As requested for Assignment 2-2, I have compiled a list of ten best practices for creating a profile and using Linkedin, .

1. Use a good photo – it should be professional and clear (Fleming)
2. Ensure your contact info is provided – this can include your email, blog, social media or anywhere else you would like to be found (Phan)
3. Let recruiters know you’re open – use LinkedIn’s “open candidates” feature that allows recruiters to know you are looking for new opportunities (Phan)
4. Keep your feed updated – this will keep you top of mind for your network (Phan)
5. Write a strong summary – focus on the most relevant details about your career (Phan)
6. Join groups – this will help network with others in your specific industry (Phan)
7. Ensure there are no typos – simple mistakes can look bad to potential employers (Kim)
8. Include keywords in your profile – this will help you appear in searches (Kim)
9. Try to publish engaging posts – this will increase your visibility and allow new connections to be formed (Kim)
10. Be careful of buzzwords – they are very overused and can appear meaningless if used too much (Fleming)
