Subject: Best Practices for Professional Networking on LinkedIn

Based on the instructions for Unit 2:2 of the course, below are ten best practices for professional networking on LinkedIn based on several articles:

1. Complete Profile. Getting an appropriate profile will help maximize networking opportunities for finding a new job. A profile should include, but not limited to, the experiences, skills, accomplishments and attributes the user may have.

2. An Eye-Catching Headline. Instead of just listing a job title, mention a skill or attribute that recruiters look for.

3. A Professional Photo. Choose a clear, friendly, and professional image.

4. Write a Concise Summary. Writing a great LinkedIn summary is the easiest way to differentiate a member apart from others.

5. Personalize the LinkedIn Profile URL. Creating a custom URL can strengthen your personal brand in LinkedIn.

6. Expand Your Network by Creating Meaningful Connections. Concentrate on creating meaningful and beneficial connections rather than adding everyone you have met.

7. Keeping Your Page Active. Doing this can engage other users with thoughtful comments.

8. Engage in LinkedIn Groups. Joining and interacting with groups that are on LinkedIn is a great way to grow networks, increase industry knowledge, and build personal brand.

9. Ask for Feedback and Recommendations. LinkedIn is a good place to show the great things that a colleague, manager, or client has to say about you.

10. Be Warm and Welcoming. Inject some personality in your writing to avoid coming across as cold or disengaged. You can let people know your values and passions.

Thank you for taking the time to read my summary regarding best practices for professional networking on Linked In. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely

Joanna Yu
