Your LinkedIn Profile was very professional and enjoyable to read. Below are some recommendations to help you engage with more like-minded professionals to help grow your professional network.

Profile Photo

The profile photo was a clear portrait of you and your body language and facial expression represented you as a professional. In addition to this, the background did not possess any elements that pulled focus from you.

Professional Summary

The professional summary was concise and avoided use of many extraneous details. The first sentence provides a clear indication of your interest to study and pursue a career in Art History which outlines (clarifying your career goals and technical fields of interest clearly to the reader). A small recommendation to help captivate readers more is to provide a few more specific details about your interests in how “information is spread through images” and also in your last sentence to provide the audience that you are trying to promote engagement with art and history.

Work/Volunteer Experience

The work and volunteer experience were presented in chronological order. It would be ideal to have your most relevant experiences at the top of your list of work experiences to capture the readers attention. Though the Residence Advisor position does provide insight to your ability to engage with a community of students the Education and Programming Assistant role provides more insight into how you can engage people of all ages with history which aligns closer with with your professional summary. You may want to experiment with functional formatting of your work experiences to ensure readers can clearly see your most relevant skills immediately.

All of your work experiences provided little overlap in duties and explained the different ways you educate and engage people of all ages in various different subject areas. You may want to highlight more details of strategies you used to engage people in learning about art and history with the relevant roles (e.g. Education and Programming Assistant, Summer Programme Coordinator, Gallery Attendant and Art Assistant roles).

LinkedIn Community Engagement

It was not apparent that you engage in different LinkedIn groups relevant to the technical fields you wish to explore and engage with like-minded professionals. By commenting and sharing content it will allow you the opportunity to meet new people that share similar interests and professional values as you. Creating your own content to post will be the best way for other professionals to gauge what your values, knowledge and skill level are which help you to engage more in LinkedIn communities.

Skills

All of the skills that were list corresponded clearly with your work experience. In your list of skills be sure to include an equal portion of hard skills to soft skills. If prospective employers view your profile the hard skills will give a better representation of your technical knowledge relative to soft skills. Also by having a longer list of skills in general it provides more keywords for employers or other professionals to search you by. It is best to keep this list well organized so that it increases the readability for anyone viewing the profile.

Interests

The interests section will be another area that is key to engaging professionals in technical fields of interest to you if you share similar interests with them. Also by expanding your list of interests you can  use that as an opportunity to engage with other professionals in your field that you may not know.

Conclusion

Overall, your LinkedIn profile had a lot of great information about your career goals and experiences. In summary you may want to consider:

  • Consider using a functional format for listing work and volunteer experiences to ensure your most relevant experience/skills are seen immediately
  • Engage more on LinkedIn Groups to help develop your professional network
  • Add more professional interests to help provide more insight about you to people beyond your network
  • Add more hard skills to ensure you present your technical capabilities
