Subject: Memorandum on my research

As specified in Assignment 2:2, please find below the research findings of using LinkedIn as a professional networking site. LinkedIn is a social networking site that helps us make business connections and share the professional experience online. It could demonstrate your knowledge, credibility and leadership expertise, as well as gain higher exposure to a potential job market.

Below I have included ten insightful tips on best practices for professional networking on LinkedIn:

  1. Always include a good-quality photo of yourself. First impression matters and a good photograph will leave you a good impression to the employer. It will get more views and interactions than the ones without.
  2. Use keywords in your headline, summary and experience. It will give yourself added benefits when one of your connections is searching for the same keyword.
  3. Complete all the areas. LinkedIn is no different than your resume.
  4. Make connections with people in the industry that you are interested in, especially people who you could see yourself working with or could provide valuable insights to your career advancement.
  5. It is nice to include a personalized message when you send out a connection request, such as a short introduction of yourself. It will help you establish a relationship with your connections.
  6. Post educational and engaging content on your LinkedIn. You could start step by step. Start by sharing a great article that you’ve read about your industry. Once you are ready, you could write your own article on LinkedIn to showcase professionalism in your field.
  7. Interact with your connections by leaving comments, likes and sharing their contents. Periodically reach out by sending out a message and check out how they are doing to maintain a good relationship.
  8. Join LinkedIn Groups related to your industry that you could become a part of. It is easier to extend your network in the related field.
  9. Make active interaction in the group, such as answer questions and participate in discussions to showcase your professionalism and expertise.
  10. Ask some people who you have worked with to give personal testimonials that highlight your professional abilities. Writing about particular attributes or achievements would leave a better impression of you.

Indeed, the more you engage on LinkedIn, the higher exposure your profile gets. With the ease of global networking online, we never know what opportunity would arise when we establish meaningful relationships with experts. Therefore, always be ready and polish your online resume well.

Thank you for reading my research regarding LinkedIn practices. I hope my research could help you establish a professional profile online.
