LinkedIn is an online networking platform used to connect a user base of employers, job seekers, and professionals. As outlined in lesson 2.2, I have compiled a list of 10 best practices that will ensure you get the most out of your time on LinkedIn:

  1. Profile Picture: The profile picture is essentially your first impression to an employer; ensure it’s taken in a professional manner. Most often this is an individual headshot or wearing business casual attire.
  2. Goals: Make it clear what you hope to achieve through LinkedIn, whether that be a job, connections within an industry or to research another career, make an action statement as a part of your summary.
  3. Summarize: Further, utilize the summary section to share unique traits or highlight of skills that will attract the desired audience to your profile.
  4. Skills: List your skills, and complete offered LinkedIn practical tests to certify you are knowledgeable in certain software or area to support your credentials.
  5. Recommendations: Have colleagues and co-workers endorse and recommend your strengths. Endorsements are a form of reference for newcomers to your profile.
  6. Up to Date: As you take on new roles and experiences, continue to update your profile to show your growth and progress.
  7. Professional: Avoid using the platform like Facebook and similar social media, therefore only maintain connections that add to your professional growth.
  8. Consistency: Keep consistent with the frequency of posts to maintain an online presence. For instance, an interesting article, or highlight posted once per week (or month).
  9. Timing: Target hours are certain hours where your profile garners the most engagement. Determine these, and schedule to post updates of any kind, during this time.
  10. Relationships: Make strong connections by building rapport through actions like sharing, commenting, liking, and joining groups that relate to your professional goals.

I hope these LinkedIn tips will help you enhance the reach of your professional network.
