Progress Report- Eva Ruiz

MEMORANDUM

To:                Dr. Erika Paterson, Professor English Technical Writing UBC

From:          Eva Ruiz, Student English Technical Writing UBC

Date:            July 9, 2020

Subject:       Progress Report

For our ongoing formal reports I have prepared a progress report which outlines key aspects for the write up and a proposed research schedule. This report aims to determine how to gain/maintain authority and while engaging students aged 5 to 10 as a new/experienced Behavioural Interventionist online.

Audience: This report will be presented to Serina Ando and Parbs Bains. These two women are in charge of hiring and managing experienced and novice behavioural interventionists. Serina Ando is in charge of the initial training as well as supervising lessons every second week for new behavioural interventionists. Their needs are to have content productively taught to their clients children in a specific manner as mandated by the program. These lessons are accompanied by data collection for each section of the program, so ensuring questions and attention are the same is vital for progress and conclusions to be deemed valid.

Purpose: The purpose of this report will be to highlight common issues during online lessons, both current and past, and to put together a guide of proposed solutions to gain authority and therefore the attention of the student.

Significance: Creating a guide would supply behavioural interventionists with immediate materials for assistance along with uniform response to the issue of authority and therefore attention. This guide is crucial because the program run has hard and fast rules to be completed properly and to obtain quality results. Therefore, it is within the interest of the advisors to provide Behavioural Interventionist with materials to assist with authority issues while moving and adapting lessons to the online platform.

Research Plan:

  • Write interview questions (following ethical guidelines)
  • Schedule and interview behavioural interventionists (2) and supervisor (1)
  • Transcribe and evaluate responses
  • Create guide based on interview responses
  • Obtain approval for guides publication in resources
