Subject: Formal Report Progress Update

As requested in section 2:3, I have prepared this progress report to outline the key components up to this point for the formal report.

Audience: This report is intended for the Service Manager of White Rock Honda, Mark Chambers. This is a person with authority and has a say in the changes being put forth.

Purpose: The purpose of this report is to evaluate and compare the installation of an automatic car wash versus continuing to wash cars by hand. Specifically, the report will address the quality, cost, speed, and customer preferences of both washing options.

Significance: If found to be a better alternative, switching to an automatic car wash could lead to significant cost savings and/or improvements in customer satisfaction.

Research Plan:

• Distribute customer surveys to family and friends who own cars
• Schedule and interview current and past employees
• Analyse the results of both the surveys and interviews
• Research the internet on automatic car washes and their benefits, downsides, and costs

Writing Schedule:

• Create survey and interview questions – completed
• Distribute surveys – when approved
• Conduct interview(s) – when approved
• Analyse completed survey and interview data – July 21st to 26th
• Work on formal report draft – July 27th to Aug 1st
• Rewrite formal report with feedback from peer review – Aug 8th to Aug 17th
