Technological Demons

In my previous post, I discussed George Orwell’s “Why I Write” and how Orwell thought that the desire to write was like a demon that we “can neither resist nor understand”. I wonder how much this can relate to technology, too. It seems to me that technology comes from some demon that we cannot resist. We are driven to create technology, and we can understand it to some extent, but as Postman notes, we, especially at the beginning stages, cannot predict what it will do. The technology itself seems to become an unpredictable demon, necessitating more change and the creation of more technology.
