Subject: Peer review of your research proposal for Determining the Feasibility of Converting the Vacant Hospital Facility
Thank you for submitting your proposal. You picked an interesting topic, homelessness is certainly one of the most serious social problems in Canada. Please consider the following feedback.
First Impression:
This is a really interesting proposal, the document provides a clear description of the problem, however, as our instructor suggested, you need to define the intended audience for your proposal.
Organization :
- The introduction section provided a good presentation to the problem, what appears to be lacking in your description of your intended audience.
- Your paragraphs follow the research proposal organization, perhaps highlight your subheadings to make your proposal more constructed.
Expression:
- The points are clear in your proposal, however, your expression in the statement of problem section can be confusing, it appears the focus of your research is on public security instead of solving homeless people’s housing problem.
Content :
- Introduction. The introduction is very intriguing, which shows you care about the subject matter.
- Statement of problem: Statement of problem should be focusing on the “homeless people” , instead of saying how homeless people compromise public security. Or, if your focus is on public security, then you should address this in your introduction.
- Proposed solution: The proposed solution is interesting. If the reason for hospital vacancy is confidential, how can readers know if your solution is feasible?
- Scope: Includes five excellent research questions.
- Methods: Clearly identifies research subjects and demonstrates how the data will be collected.
- Qualifications: Provides reasons for how to gain the data that is needed for the research
Concluding Comments :
Your proposal looks good overall, thank you for bringing forth an important social problem in Canada. To my knowledge, Canada has a social policy called the “housing-first approach” it aims to offer homeless people with free housing. You may want to look into this approach, as you suggested in your proposed solution that the government does not have a permanent solution to fix the housing issue, but there is.
You may also consider if your proposed solution is feasible during this pandemic, what if there are not enough hospital spaces for COVID-19 patients, and the government needs to use the vacant hospitals?
