Hello Aran,

Thank you for submitting your LinkedIn profile for peer review. It is a wonderful start with some improvement opportunities. Below are some suggestions for improving the profile.

First Impressions

This profile is well executed and includes the required components. It is organized correctly with clear writing and little areas of confusion.

Profile Photo

Overall, the profile picture is good. There is no background noise with the clear background and the face is centered and in focus. The clothing worn is also appropriate. Here are a couple areas of improvement:

  • looking into the camera would help make the picture more personable and appear professional
  • buttoning up a few buttons could provide a more professional appearance

Summary

The summary has a professional tone and also a personal touch with the last paragraph. It clearly states current roles while presenting future objectives. Some suggestion:

  • the length is on the shorter side
  • a little more detail could be added to flesh out this section
  • including some specific skills in relation to the mentioned experience would be impressive

Work Experience and Volunteer Experience

The volunteer experience listed has all essential information needed. It is listed in chronological order and is easy to follow. Work experience is empty as you are still in school. Here are some improvements that could be made:

  • adding a specific position title for the Pathways to Education Canada volunteer position would clarify your role
  • include a little bit more detail for each position, such as some specific responsibilities or accomplishments

Skills and Endorsements

There is a solid amount of skills included in the profile and all appear relevant and professional. As the profile is new, endorsements are not expected at this point.

Interests

The interests section is lacking and could use some improvement. Here are a couple tips:

  • choose interests that are professional and appropriate for the profile
  • include interests that would be relevant and stand out to potential recruiters

Grammar and Expression

  • The first sentence of the second paragraph in the summary says that “I had” the opportunity to work at UBC. “I have had” would make more sense since you still attend UBC.
  • The second line of the third paragraph in the summary has an extra “of” before the word “eyes.”
  • In the same sentence “may form” does not make sense and should be revised.

Conclusion

As a first attempt at a LinkedIn profile it is well done and hits all the key points. I hope the revisions mentioned are useful. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
