Hi Zachary, well done on your LinkedIn profile. Below are a few comments and suggested areas for improvement.

Initial Impressions

Quality and Appropriateness of Profile Picture:

The profile picture is of clear quality and appropriate for LinkedIn. It is inoffensive and professional. The “#opentowork’ frame is a positive addition because it clearly indicates to employers and viewers of the profile that this profile is open to opportunities and welcomes interaction.

Concise and Informative Summary:

Although this profile lacks a summary section, it instead includes ‘Job Preferences’ as the first category. This allows viewers of the profile to understand your goals and narrow down whether you may be a good fit for their staffing needs. It is also concise and direct.

Organization and Clarity of Profile:

The profile is organized; however, clarity can be improved.  Consider combining the two categories ‘Experience’ and ‘Volunteer Experiences’ or renaming them. If the work under ‘Experience,’ was paid work, it can be renamed to ‘Work Experience.’ Clarifying the titles and categories can improve the organization and overall profile.

Content

Relevant Categories:

All the categories listed are relevant and accomplish the purpose of reaching the intended audience.

Is there enough detail? Or too much detail?

Perhaps consider maintaining details in all the sections to improve consistency. For example, there are currently 3 ‘Experiences’ and 3 ‘Volunteer Experiences’ listed but only 3 out of the 6 (Editor; Student Volunteer; Student Volunteer) have further descriptions underneath the title. Details can include strengths gained in a specific role or specific achievements that are important but too minor to be listed separately (under accomplishments).

Some titles can also be expanded on as suggested above in ‘Organization and Clarity of Profile,’ for example ‘Student Volunteer’ and ‘Experiences’ are quite vague.

How can the individual alter the content on their profile to have more impact on the intended audience?

Great addition of including a section with pages of interest, as it helps connect with those who have mutual interests. Consider expanding on this by sharing and commenting on posts of interest, as these will also appear on the profile and further attract the attention of the intended audience.

Language

Are there instances of grammatical errors?

There are minimal grammatical errors.

Is the tone appropriate for the intended audience?

The tone is professional, friendly, and concise. This works well for the purpose of a LinkedIn profile.

Overall Conclusion

What is the most effective element of the LinkedIn Profile?

The accomplishment section is the most impactful aspect of your profile because it interconnects the educational background, experiences, and skills that have led you to these accomplishments. It highlights and provides concrete examples of your best work, implying to recruiters you are qualified to excel in similar roles.

What element of the profile can be most improved? Or if not, what additional element can be added to the profile for its improvement?

Perhaps consider adding a summary section at the top of the profile as an introduction, in terms of personality traits, learning philosophy, or future goals. It’s an excellent way for profile viewers to gain a better perception of your personality in addition to the experiences and skills already provided.
