Subject: Progress Report on my Formal Report

Please find my progress report detailing the current progress for my formal report. Any feedback from you is much appreciated.

Intended audience:

The intended audience of this report is Patty Hajdu, the Minister of Health of Canada. Patty can read this report and get a better sense of how hospital food affects the health of Canadians. Then, the steps outlined in the report can be followed to increase the health of food in hospitals.

Purpose of report:

Bring awareness to the impact of unhealthy hospital food on patients, the economic implications
Offer healthier alternatives, while maintaining or improving economic feasibility

Significance of the report:

Each hospital should be striving to provide healthy food to patients.
This report provides research on the impact of nutrition while sick and recovering, as well as methods of reducing costs of providing healthy hospital foods.

Research plan:

Interview an occupational therapist and nurses from Lions Gate hospital
Deep dive into food offerings and current literature surrounding nutrition while sick and recovering
Compile report on current hospitals in Canada, their menus, and the implications of these
Calculate yearly costs of offering healthy meals versus the current model
Investigate current healthy hospital menus around the globe, considerations for how we can apply this model in Canada
Obtain cost estimates of healthy alternatives based off of current consumption
Compile report on potential cost savings via potential decreased future hospital visits and faster patient healing time
