The Eco Art Incubator fosters art which attaches to a place and becomes part of the ecosystem. In the Okanagan, we recognize that our ecosystem is complicated, like all ecosystems, and enriched by cultural, natural, and political dynamics. We sow connections and cultivate convergences out of a sometimes fractured and contentious, sometimes caring and awed, always layered relationship to this particular land. We plant art in this place’s many terrains and subterrains, histories and futures, abundances and scarcities, conflicts and communities. We are interested in art of all the species here —indigenous, invasive, endangered, invited — gathering knowledge and growing the seeds of local, place-based culture.
