Just came out a planning meeting for Northern Voice, and while we are behind schedule in terms of logistical planning (call it the Darren and Julie in Malta effect), we now have a date and location nailed down: February 22-23, at the main UBC campus’s Forestry Science Centre (same place as last year).

An updated website and call for speakers is imminent, and we intend to have the schedule finalized before Christmas. When we relaunch the site, we intend not only to solicit presentation proposals but suggestions for topics and speakers as well… if you don’t want to wait until then, feel free to add your feedback in the comments field below.

If half the people who’ve told me they intend to come show up, it’s going to be another humdinger.

  1. Very cool. First reaction was “hey, that photo looks familiar!” – I’ll gladly take my place as Official Staff Photographer for Abject Learning! 😉

    I’ve already booked the time in my calendar, and am working on getting travel budget allocated. Might have to throw some ideas around for possible sessions, too! Awesome.

    Can we do this every 6 months, instead of annually?

  2. Alan Levine says:

    Chez Lamb might need some construction effort to accommodate the hordes. Bigger question- will there be ceviche?

    I’m blocking in the calendar now…

  3. Scott Leslie says:

    So if Casa Lamb/McPhee is getting overcrowded, we should all bring tents and camp out at UBC…we can be MooseHeads (and sell weird swag in the parking lot before the show). Uh, wait, I think they’ve put something strange in the water here in Atlanta. Can’t wait to see you freaks there.

  4. Brian says:

    Uh… D’Arcy, in case you hadn’t noticed, you’re kind of the official Abject photographer already!

    Alan, if you come there will be ceviche. But you and Scott do raise the logistical challenge, which almost brought Casa Lamb/McPhee to its knees last year. We’re half seriously discussing catering options.

    @Jim and Nancy – indeed!

  5. Romina says:

    Yay! preparing to be there!
