I-PREP (Improving Practice Readiness in Experiential Education in Pharmacy)

The Improving Practice Readiness in Experiential Education in Pharmacy (I-PREP), program is a self-paced asynchronous course designed to prepare PharmD students of all years for their future practicums by focusing on enhancing their practice readiness and self regulated learning. This program utilises resources and activities that are informed by teaching and learning literature, ensuring a student-centred approach that provides guided and personalised learning experiences.
Topics Covered in I-PREP:
    • Creating Individualised Learning Plans
    • Case Studies [Hospital care settings, various complexities]
    • Learning Strategies
    • Pharmaceutical Care Skills
    • Using the academic EHR
    • Practicum Skills
    • Student & Practice Educator Tips for Success
Time Commitment: I-PREP material is designed to be led by the student in an asynchronous fashion and thus completed at their own pace. Therefore there is not a specific time commitment that you are expected to complete I-PREP within. While registration is open for a year, you are encouraged to engage with the material as much or as little as you find relevant and useful in preparing you for future practicums. Previous students have found that “a few hours” per module over the span of 2-3 weeks to be quite doable. During the initial meetings with your I-PREP Faculty Member, you should discuss a tentative timeline and check in with them during the midpoint meeting about any changes you might want to make to it.
