Rip.Mix.Feed Cindy Plunkett – Village of 100

My Rip.Mix.Feed was done using Animoto.  It is something that I have been working on for an eLearning module for the Diversity department here at our organization.  I have taken the text from the ‘village of 100’ and fed it into Animoto and used copyright free  images found at www.photosearch.com.  I am hoping that the end product Village of 100 will engage our learners and entice them into wanting to learn more within the unit.  I think this has been my favourite activity thus far, it was a blast “playing” with this re-work!

Awesome project, Cindy – you’ve used the technology well and presented lots of food for thought.

    Hi Cindy,

    that is a fantastic presentation.

I probably wouldn’t have thought about this before, but as I watched the animoto video, I kept thinking about how much more powerful the images and music was making the presentation. It’s not that the facts aren’t important, but the power of a photograph can’t be underestimated. Especially when it is used to draw empathy. When we read these facts, they can be saddening. However, to see the homeless, or what passes for homes, has a much more powerful impact. I can imagine Ong lamenting over the reduction in the amount of writing. But,this is what literacy has evolved into, and what we’ve come to accept. There will always be a place for written text, yet, its difficult to go back, such as replacing your presentation with a few paragraphs.
