Course Objectives
The overall objective of this course is provide you with a working knowledge of the institutional and business design principles and market processes which impact the success of learning technology ventures. We intend to help you acquire the understanding and skills to undertake critical evaluations of ventures and emerging markets, and to be prepared to apply this learning to the design and successful launch of new learning technologies initiatives in the public and private domain. We also intend that part of your understanding of these skills will be acquired through the use and critique of some of the emerging online tools.
The learning objectives of ETEC 522: Ventures in Learning Technologies are therefore as follows:
- You will acquire a working knowledge of the institutional and business design principles and market processes impacting the success of learning technology ventures;
- You will learn to conduct critical evaluations of learning technology ventures and emerging markets;
- You will learn strategies to ‘pitch’ or propose new learning technology enterprises; and
- You will have gained useful experience with sets of emerging learning technologies.
Your success in this course will require sound research, independent thought, creative synthesis, teamwork, and focus. Not surprisingly, these are also core requirements for success in any enterprise.
